This statement spells out the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the publication of an article for Chung Yuan Management Review, i.e., the editor and the author.
Editors’ Responsibilities
Publication Decisions
The editor is responsible for deciding which submissions will be published. He or she will evaluate manuscripts without regard to the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy. The decision will be based on the paper’s importance, originality, and clarity as well as the study’s validity and relevance to the journal’s scope. Current legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism will always be of the utmost importance.
Confidentiality
The editor and any editorial staff are not allowed to provide any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
It is prohibited to provide or use unpublished materials described in a submitted paper to the editor or the members of the editorial board for their own research purposes without the author’s written permission.
Responsibilities of Author
Reporting Standards
Authors of original reports must present an accurate account of the research performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data must be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or deliberately inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.
Originality and Plagiarism
The authors must verify that they have written entirely original works. If the authors have used the work and/or words of others, this must be appropriately cited or quoted.
Acknowledgment of Sources
The appropriate acknowledgment of the research must be provided. Authors are required to also cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.
Data Access and Retention
The authors may be needed to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review and should be prepared to provide access, if practical. They should retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.
Multiple Publications
It is not acceptable for the author to publish manuscripts with essentially the same research in more than one journal. If the author submits the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently, it will constitute unethical publishing practices and will result in rejection of his or her submission.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works
If the author finds errors in his/her own published work, the author should notify the journal editor or publisher and to work with the editor to correct the paper in the form of an erratum.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
All authors should disclose within their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed as a significant influence on results or their interpretations of their study.
